A (very) brief summary of 11 Techniques for Better Classroom Discipline

Thomas R. McDaniel wrote "A Primer on Classroom Discipline: Principles Old and New", from this text there are extract 11 tips for a better classroom discipline. First of all, as it is well known, a teacher must give direct instructions in order to have the control of the classroom and do not start a class if the students are talking, because they won’t pay attention to them and to the subject.
In the classroom, a teacher always must be monitoring in order to know what is happening in his or her classroom, in terms of order, behavior and if the students are learning the lecture.
To sum up, the teacher must be conscious that his role in the classroom it is conditioned by how he can deal properly the power that he have as a teacher, do not misunderstand the word power as a negative and despot character, instead try to be a positive role model and a fair leader.

  1. Hi, Juan. I believe your use of "must" counts as emphatic language, but I would have liked to see you use some of the strategies we practiced in class.
    This post seems to be all summary without much critique. If you agreed with all of the points, tell us why. Also, sometimes it is unclear whether you are paraphrasing the article or whether the ideas are your own. We'll talk about making this obvious in class tomorrow.

    I like your entry is really mmmm you. But I would say that some ideas are mixed up and I couldn't understand them.I believe that there are some grammar and coherence mistakes, if you could read it again, you may notice what your mistakes are and fixed them.

    I really agree with this quotation, we think the same way. You did a good blog entry, it was well summarized and it included what it should include. About mistakes, we checked them together. I think we dealt with them very well.

    Is the purpose of the post to tell us that McDaniel wrote this article? Rather, why don't you introduce the article in a way that relates to your purpose, such as:
    Classroom management is always a daunting issue to new teachers. In "A Primer on Classroom Discipline: Principles Old and New," however, Thomas R. McDaniel outlines 11 tips for a better classroom discipline.
